The Northern Gannet on the Island of Helgoland
This is my project on the Northern Gannet, a seabird species that also breeds on the German Island of Helgoland. The birds are easy to watch and to photograph. Also the birds posses incredible flying and gliding capacities. Because of their incredibly fast flight it is quite an effort to catch them in flight. Because of the good conditions in that specific breeding colony it is possible to use small equipment and leave the heavy EF 600mm f/4 at home.
